Am I suitable for laser hair removal treatment? Most people, male and female, are suitable candidates for laser hair removal, although we are unable to treat women during pregnancy or people under 18 years old. We can treat most hair and skin types, although grey hair is not suitable for laser hair removal and the treatment is most effective on darker hair and pale skin.

How is laser hair removal performed and how does it work? Your treatment begins by trimming away the hair above the skin. You will be asked to wear dark glasses to protect your eyes from the laser. The laser emits a beam, which is absorbed by the pigment in the hair. It is designed to destroy the hair and within 2-3 weeks, hair that has been damaged by the laser is shed. As the follicle is disabled, hair re-growth is significantly reduced.

How long will it take to perform hair removal? Depending on the area to be treated, hair removal will take from 10 minutes up to an hour per session. The approximate timings will be discussed with you at your consultation so that the appropriate appointments can be booked for your treatments. You will typically need 4-6 treatments which will approximately 4 weeks apart.

Does laser hair removal hurt? The feel of the laser on the skin has been described in many different ways. Some say it feels like a pinch on the skin, others say it feels like a rubber band flicking on your skin. You may also feel a warming sensation as the hair heats up and the treatment begins to work. The specially designed applicator features a cooling device which helps to relieve any discomfort.

What results can I expect from hair removal? Our new laser has been proven to create a permanent reduction in the number of re-growing hairs following each treatment in most skin types. The number of hair removal treatments required depends on several factors related to your specific kind of hair and skin. A customised treatment programme will be designed for you along with an estimate of how many treatments you may need in order to meet your expectations. Most patients report noticeable differences immediately.

How long is the recovery period from hair removal? Patients can return immediately to work or their daily routine after hair removal.

Are there any after effects from hair removal? Following treatment there maybe some redness of the skin which will quickly settle down. The laser practitioner will usually apply a cooling agent post treatment. Side effects can be minimised by avoiding sun exposure in between sessions, which are usually 4 weeks apart and for several weeks before the process is started. Fake sun tan must also be avoided prior to the area being treated.

Can I still remove hair between treatments? You may shave or use a depilatory cream or trim hairs. However, you should not use waxing, threading or plucking or any method that removes the hair from the follicles.

How much does hair removal cost? Hair removal costs from £40. Pricing is dependent on individual requirements and the cost of your treatment plan will be discussed with you at your private consultation.
